El Paso, Texas, February 14th - 16th, 2001

The commander of my unit, Lieutenant Colonel Schelchshorn, made it possible for me to go on
a three-day duty travel to El Paso. There, I could see the German school which is located on
the premises of Fort Bliss, the largest missile training center in the NATO.
|
View on El Paso. The city has 1.6 million inhabitants and is located near the border to
Mexico.
|
|
A part of the Fort Bliss base. About 11000 people live and work here.
|
|
A part of the German School El Paso, where over 100 children are taught throughout all classes.
A little comparison: I taught 9 kids, 10-16 years of age.

Major Gladeck and I took the opportunity and crossed the border to Mexico. Here, have crossed
the borderline by a few meters and I´m standing on Mexican territory. In the background, you
can see El Paso, and the town on the other side is Juarez.
